Continued expansion for Envac at the Pearl of Qatar
The Envac Middle East and India team is pleased to announce the continued expansion of the Pneumatic Waste Collection System at the Pearl of Qatar project in Doha, Qatar.
The Pearl of Qatar is the first free hold real estate development built on reclaimed land in Qatar. The mixed use development is designed to accommodate approximately 60,000 residents and up to 300,000 annual visitors.
Envac’s four systems collect waste from residential apartments, hotels, villas & theme based residential zones, retail shops, restaurants, and public areas via a 64,000 metre pipe network connected to 507 inlets and two collection stations.
As one of Envac’s largest installations this system is an excellent example of how a pneumatic waste collection system can be incorporated into a large scale master planned development. Waste collection truck trips within the development have been reduced by up to 80% and the requirement for space within buildings for waste storage has decreased by 70% saving plot developers money.
We have been working as partners with our client United Development Company (UDC) since 2007. Our contract with UDC is exclusive so as each plot is developed we work directly with the plot developer and their consultants to design in the Envac system connection. We then supply the equipment once construction starts to ensure that the entire system across the Island is compatible and continues to function to the levels we demand.
We are also currently in a very good positon to win additional work with UDC on project adjacent to the Pearl of Qatar site.
As part of our ongoing operation and maintenance contact we recently upgraded to the ERP Third generation Smart Control System. This will enable to offer UDC more data and also save further on energy costs.
