Meet the Team – Linda

A tough project manager with a strong sense of determination who has a knack for achieving goals and a passion for Sci-Fi.

This is Linda Vikene

Linda Vikene is a project manager at Envac Norge, based at the Trondheim office. She works on the planning of healthcare projects such as St. Olavs Hospital and the New Narvik Hospital, as well as F-terminal projects like Flatåsen Nordre and Nardovegen. Recently, she delivered Trondheim’s first project involving organic food waste tanks.

Born and raised in Trondheim, Linda worked in a bookshop while studying to become a civil engineer in chemistry and biotechnology. Her first job after graduation was as a process and project engineer in Tromsø, where she developed an interest in project work, leading her to pursue further education in project management. She gained solid experience as a project manager in the oil industry. After several changes in her previous company, she sought a new opportunity at Envac, where she began in June 2015.

I appreciate the flexibility that Envac offers me in my workday—it also motivates me to go the extra mile, “and then some,” when needed.

Linda experienced a significant transition from working with 400 employees in an open-plan office to being at Envac’s Trondheim office with just one colleague. They have worked closely together, and the office is characterised by coordination, trust, and strong collaboration, which Linda greatly appreciates. The Trondheim branch has doubled in size over the years, something she enjoys.

As a woman in a male-dominated industry, Linda has been particularly noticed, especially as “the girl in construction” who doesn’t drink coffee. She sees this as a strength, as it makes her easily recognisable to external contacts. Linda finds it exciting to meet new people and showcase her broad knowledge. She also enjoys developing and influencing her hometown, Trondheim.

I like that, as a project manager, you get to challenge yourself technically and encounter different issues in each project. It’s especially rewarding when, as a team, you solve these challenges and can use your creative side when it comes to finding solutions.

Linda greatly values the freedom she has in her role at Envac, allowing her to prioritise and structure her day independently. She particularly enjoys drawing while listening to music and takes pleasure in seeing the results on construction sites and engaging in conversations with the installers. The social environment and her colleagues are also crucial to her job satisfaction.

The most exciting challenges for Linda are major changes in existing projects, which increase complexity and provide her with an extra level of challenge. The satisfaction of delivering a good result and learning along the way is significant for her. She is also looking forward to getting to know new project managers and facing new challenges, such as finalising the BIM model.

In her personal life, Linda is focused on her family, which includes her husband and their two children. She is actively involved as the treasurer for her daughter’s brass band and enjoys working out at Fresh Fitness. Linda is also a music enthusiast and prioritises festivals and concerts, particularly in electronic music. She is a “periodic knitter” and loves combining knitting with watching Sci-Fi films like Star Wars and Blade Runner.

During summer Linda enjoyed the Pstereo festival in August and attended the Øya festival. The family also planned a road trip to England, visiting Oxford, Liverpool, Wales, and London, where they experienced Legoland, Tate Modern, and other attractions of particular interest to their son.

Envac’s technology is truly unique. The thought that we have delivered something that hundreds of people use every day, and will continue to use for years into the future, even after I’ve finished my career, is impressive.

Our Core Values

Envac’s core values are clearly reflected in the strong internal and external collaboration, where there is a high level of openness for sharing opinions and a good understanding of each other’s goals, according to Linda. The commitment in Trondheim is at its peak, with much discussion on how Envac can develop, and the team often goes the extra mile and stretches a bit further. They are dedicated to the company and the client, working hard to deliver excellent results.

At the same time, Linda and her colleagues have great respect for each other, the clients, contracts, materials, health and safety, and subcontractors. She believes it is important to show concern beyond the Envac team, acknowledging that the work of partners can be challenging and ensuring that no one gets hurt.
